Members of City Park Co-op can join for $10 (normally $29) and we’ll waive your first-year annual Keep It Simple plan fee (normally $45). Enterprise CarShare in your building gives you the convenience of driving in style, without the hassles, headaches and rising costs of vehicle ownership.
Each building has three laundry rooms which are located in the ‘back’ hallway of the first floor of each building.
Direct elevator access to the back hallway where the laundry rooms are located is from the front lobby “Freight Elevator.” Push "LR" for “Laundry Room” and the rear door of the elevator will open to the back hallway where the laundry rooms are located. The stairs from the lobby beside the elevators also provide access to the laundry hallway.
Download the LaundryCat App to pay for laundry with your smartphone or purchase a “Sparkle SOLUTIONS Smart Card” in order to do your laundry. The laundry card resembles a credit card and can be loaded in two ways: use the Reload machine in the Co-Op Office (484 Church) or in the middle/center laundry room of each building.
To maintain cleanliness and prevent potential pest issues, we kindly ask all members refrain from leaving personal items, such as books, magazines, clothing, or other belongings, in the laundry rooms. Information regarding bed bug prevention can also be found on the bulletin boards inside each laundry room.
Bicycle Racks are located:
outside the main entrance of each Co-Op building.
in the designated locked areas of the underground garages. Applications for the locked bicycle area access (and a bicycle tag) can be found in the Co-Op Office.
All bicycle racks are first come, first served.
Bicycles can also be stored in your locker or your unit.
Members using elevators have priority over bicycles being transported at the same time.
All bicycles not in use and that appear to be in poor condition will be removed from outside and inside the bicycle racks following notification from the Maintenance Department.
Garbage chutes are located on each floor between units 02 and 03 and are marked "Garbage Chute."
The "Janitor’s Room" is also nearby, next to units 02.
In the basement of each building near the center is a large room containing trash bins and a bin each for electronics, toxic household waste, and organics.
The large gated garbage compound with big wooden doors is located on the west side of Wood Street at the rear of 31 Alexander. It is used for large furniture disposal.
Check toronto.ca/recycling for the latest in recycling. Download the TOWaste app to look up each recyclable item.
Please be mindful of neighbouring units, adjacent both sides of the Garbage Chute, when disposing of your garbage. Please only dispose of garbage 8 AM - 11 PM and avoid excessive noise while using the Garbage Chute.
Please do not leave any garbage on the floor of the Garbage Chute or in the Janitor's Room. Never leave any food in the Garbage Chute or Janitor’s Room.
All garbage that is not put down the chute, or cannot be recycled, or is not on the "Hazardous Material" list or "Electronic items for Disposal" list, should be taken down to the corresponding bin in the basement.
Newspapers only may be put into the Blue Box located in the Janitor's Room on each floor, near the garbage chute.
Persons with mobility issues may leave their recycling material in the Janitor's Room on each floor.
Please do not leave any food items in these rooms as we maintain preventive pest control measures.
Please ensure that all food residue and/or liquids are removed from containers before depositing into Blue Recycling Bins.
Plastic bags must be put in one bag before depositing them into the Blue Recycling Bins.
Flatten boxboard/cardboard boxes (e.g. cereal, pasta, tissue boxes, etc.), Remove any liner bags and/or plastic windows.
Must be clean and unwaxed.
Remove as much tape and labels as possible and put those in the garbage.
Do not flatten cartons (e.g. milk, juice, soup cartons, etc.) or other similar containers.
Drop off your electronics into the medium-sized bins located in the basement alongside the other recycling bins. Electronics include, but are not limited to:
phones & accessories (e.g. headsets, power cords, etc.)
computers & accessories (e.g. keyboards, cables, etc.)
TVs & monitors
Printers & scanners
cameras
audio/video equipment (e.g. stereos, speakers, VCRs, gaming consoles, etc.)
musical instruments & equipment (e.g. digital pianos, amplifiers, etc.)
smart watches
Note: Just because an item has an electrical cord does not mean it is considered electronic waste. Make sure the item is on this list or accepted by the City of Toronto first.
All batteries, including single-use and rechargeables, are Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) (see below) and should NOT be placed in the garbage or recycling (i.e. Blue Bin). Doing so can:
be dangerous and damage equipment (e.g. batteries can start fires).
have negative effects on our environment.
be harmful to humans and animals.
Prepare Batteries for Safe Disposal
If possible, place used batteries back in their original packaging, or;
Cover the positive (+) or charging terminals with clear packing, duct or electrical tapes (avoid covering battery label), or;
Place in a clear plastic bag (wrap multiple batteries together).
The closest battery drop off locations are at Loblaws Maple Leaf Gardens (south of us), Rexall at Church/Wellesley intersection, and Rexall at College Park (777 Bay St.)
Drop off your household hazardous waste into the medium-sized black bins located in the basement alongside other recycling bins.
Long fluorescent bulbs like the ones in your kitchens are hazardous waste but should be left in the Janitor's Room on each floor for pick up by the Maintenance Dept. They should not be put in the black bins as they contain mercury and are hazardous if they break.
When fats, oils, and grease (often the by-product of cooking) are washed down the sink or toilet and into the plumbing system, they cool, harden and stick to the inside of sewer pipes. Over time, they build up and can block the entire pipe.
Blocked sewer pipes can lead to problems such as
overflowing of raw sewage into your home, business, or neighbouring property, causing basement flooding - an expensive and unpleasant cleanup.
a raw sewage overflow into parks, yards, streets, creeks, rivers and the lake.
contact with disease-causing organisms.
an increase in operation and maintenance costs to clean and repair damaged sewer pipes.
To help prevent blocked sewer pipes, let the fat, oil, or grease cool and harden, then scrape it and food scraps into your Green Bin. Also consider placing strainers in your sink drains to prevent leftover food from entering the drain. Small volumes of liquid cooking oil can be placed into the Green Bin as long as the other organic materials or paper towels can absorb the oil.
Large furniture, mattresses and other items too large for the Brown Bins should be put in the gated garbage area on Wood Street located at the rear of 31 Alexander. Items that have been in contact with bed bugs should be properly wrapped and labelled as such. Wrap is available from the office at no cost. Please contact Security for access to the area.
